Description

Kaziranga National Park - UNESCO World Heritage Centre and
Guwahati

Travel to the land of enchanting natural beauty and find yourself in the foothills of Brahmaputra River, home to rhinoceroses, Tigers and Elephants.
Kaziranga National Park: Kaziranga National Park is a must visit for anyone who visits Assam. Famous for the one horned rhinos, Kaziranga is now also a tiger reserve and the number of tigers have risen in the past couple of years. You can feel experience nature closely, with the Jeep Safaris which are the most common. The elephant safaris are also very popular but booking must be done well in advance otherwise it is difficult to obtain the elephant rides. Whichever you choose, you will definitely spot rhinos, tigers, buffalos, deer and many exotic birds. It is especially exciting when your guide will spot the tracks of a tiger and follow its trail to catch a glimpse of it. Be sure to carry binoculars and hats, as the days can get really sunny in the afternoons. Spread across the floodplains of the Brahmaputra River, its forests, wetlands and grasslands are home to tigers, elephants and the world’s largest population of Indian one-horned rhinoceroses. Ganges River dolphins swim in the park’s waters. It’s visited by many rare migratory birds, and gray pelicans roost near Kaziranga village.
Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra: The Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra (SSK) has been conceived as a grand exposition of the life and culture of the people of Assam, of its diverse ethnic groups and sub-groups, the people who have created the cultural mosaic which is the essence of the state, in respect of all its beauty and splendour. Named after the great unifier of Assam and one of the greatest integrator of the Indian society of the Fifteenth century, Srimanta Sankaradeva.
Kamakhya temple:The Kamakhya Temple is a Hindu temple at Nilachal hills in Guwahati, Assam. Dedicated to the mother goddess Kamakhya, it is one of the oldest and most revered centres of Tantric practices.
Brahmaputra river: The Brahmaputra, also known as the Yarlung Tsangpo in Tibet, the Siang/Dihang River in Arunachal Pradesh, and Luit, Dilao in Assam, is a trans-boundary river which flows through Tibet, India, and Bangladesh. It is the 9th largest river in the world by discharge, and the 15th longest.
